   Developmental stages are a linguistic concept claiming that language learning, despite its large inter-individual variance, generally progresses in an ordered, step-like manner. At the core of research has been the acquisition of verb placement by learners, as conceptualized within Processability Theory (Pienemann, 1989). The computational implementation of a system detecting developmental stages is a prerequisite for an automated analysis of L2 language development. However, such an implementation faces two main challenges. The first is the lack of a fully fleshed out, coherent linguistic specification of the stages. The second concerns the translation of the linguistic specification into computational procedures that can extract clauses from learner-produced text and assign them to a developmental stage based on verb placement. Our contribution provides the necessary linguistic specification of the stages as well as detaiiled discussion and recommendations regarding computational implementation.

3. Forschungsdaten für alle. Rechtliche Möglichkeiten und Herausforderungen bei der Veröffentlichung von Lernerkorpora

   Trotz der positiven Entwicklungen im Bereich der Lernerkorpusforschung, die vor allem vor dem Hintergrund einer wachsenden Sensibilität und Offenheit der Forschungsgemeinschaft gegenüber den Prinzipien von Open Science zu sehen sind, sind etliche Lernerkorpora des Deutschen gar nicht oder nur über Umwege verfügbar oder schwer auffindbar oder ausschließlich für beschränkte Personenkreise und Nutzungszwecke zugänglich. Basierend auf den Erfahrungen aus dem DAKODA-Projekt und aus dem SEIKO-Projekt geht der vorliegende Beitrag praxisorientiert auf einige grundlegende Chancen, Risiken und Herausforderungen der Veröffentlichung von Lernerkorpusdaten ein. Dabei stehen neben datenschutz- vor allem urheberrechtliche Fragen im Fokus. Außerdem gehen wir auf institutionelle Genehmigungsverfahren ein, die in vielen Fällen die Vorbereitung von Datenerhebungen begleiten. Zudem wird ein Überblick über bereits bestehende infrastrukturelle Möglichkeiten zur Veröffentlichung von deutschsprachigen Forschungsdaten gegeben. Despite the encouraging developments in the field of learner corpus research, which are evident in the growing sensitivity and openness of the research community towards the principles of Open Science, a number of learner corpora of German are not available at all or only via detours, or are difficult to find or only accessible for limited groups of people and purposes. This article draws upon the experiences of the DAKODA and SEIKO projects to examine the practical implications of publishing learner corpus data. In addition to data protection concerns, the focus is on copyright issues. Institutional authorisation procedures, which often accompany data collection preparation, are also considered. Finally, an overview of existing infrastructure options for publishing German-language research data is provided.

   Der Beitrag stellt das Forschungsprojekt DAKODA vor, dessen Ziel es ist, eine breite Lernerkorpus-Datenbasis zu erstellen und mit sprachtechnologischen Verfahren explorativ hinsichtlich syntaktischer Spracherwerbsstufen (vgl. Pienemann 1998, 2005) zu analysieren. Zunächst wird unter Bezug auf die im Forschungsdatenmanagement zentralen FAIR-Prinzipien auf Fortschritte, aber auch Desiderata der deutschen Lernerkorpuslandschaft eingegangen, die sich direkt auf das DAKODA-Projekt auswirken. Dann wird der spracherwerbstheoretische Projekthintergrund ausführlich geschildert; hier spielen sowohl die Erwerbsstufen als auch lernersprachliche Komplexität und die Niveaustufen des Gemeinsamen europäischen Referenzrahmens (vgl. Europarat 2001, 2020) eine wichtige Rolle. Zentral für DAKODA ist zudem die Frage der Variabilität im Stufenerwerb. Schließlich werden Ziele, Forschungsfragen und Design des Projekts präsentiert. This contribution introduces the DAKODA research project. DAKODA aims to create a broad learner corpus database and to analyse it exploratively with regard to syntactic developmental stages (cf. Pienemann 1998, 2005) using language technology methods. First, with reference to the FAIR principles central to research data management, progress and challenges in the German learner corpus landscape are discussed. These have a direct impact on DAKODA. Then, the theoretical background of the project is described in detail; here, developmental stages, learner language complexity, and the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (cf. Council of Europe 2001, 2020) play an important role. Furthermore, learner language variation is of crucial meaning inside DAKODA. Finally, the aims, research questions, and design of the project are presented.
